Good heading structure
Headings help readers and search engines understand how a page is organized. A page should normally have one H1 that states the main topic, with H2 sections and H3 subsections below them.
Common heading problems
- No H1, or several H1 tags competing for the main topic
- Skipping levels, for example going from H2 straight to H4
- Empty headings created by page builders or icons
- Using headings only for styling instead of structure
