Why your SSL certificate matters
HTTPS is a ranking signal, and browsers show a full-page warning when a certificate is expired, untrusted or issued for another domain. Visitors leave immediately.
Common problems
- An expired certificate because auto-renewal failed
- A missing intermediate certificate, which breaks some phones
- A certificate that does not include the www version
- Old TLS versions or plain HTTP that does not redirect to HTTPS
Free certificates from Let's Encrypt renew every 90 days. Most hosting panels renew them automatically.
